Second Cities -- not capitals

Everybody knows London, Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Dublin, Moscow, Madrid. But let's talk about "other" cities that are also worth visiting : like Manchester, Florence, Nice, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Shannon, Barcelona, St. Petersburg. The non-capital jewels.

Wales

My husband and I have been dreaming about a trip to the UK. We would like to travel to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales all in one trip, if at all possible. Has anyone ever seen a package combining all four countries into one trip? I think when we finally DO get there, it's likely we won't be back for quite some time, so we want to see as much as possible in one trip.

Cathedrals and Churches

I have always been fascinated by cathedrals and churches. They often were started in one century and then finished in another. They're architecture is amazing, and mind-boggling. Of course, I would love to see the Sistine Chapel in person. I've seen so many photos of it, as well as tv documentaries and such, that I almost can see it with my eyes closed.

What are some of the other cathedrals and churches you'd like to see, and why?

I want to go to Italy

My dad's family is from Sicily, Italy, and I would really like to go visit at some point in the future. Is there one time during the year that would be better to travel there than other times?

Best Art Museums/Galleries In Europe

That depends. Who’s one’s favorite artist? Which artist will be highlighted? And, how much time is one willing to invest in the Louvre—the largest art museum on the planet?

To find the best art museums in Europe is as diverse as the food. But, to start with the giants of the art world—van Gogh, Picasso, Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Rembrandt—is to get an idea of museums one can visit for more unknown, but just as talented artists, besides (and it isn’t the Louvre).

Kids Locations in Europe

Apart from Euro Disney and grasping at straws to come up with fresh ideas to not take your wee ones to the Louvre or the Champs Ellyses—again!—if your kids are into sports, try a soccer vacation for them. Sports International sponsors a European trip in from Russia to Spain, since most of that geographic region loves soccer to the level of fanaticism.

Hiking trails In The Alps

For thrill seeker vacationers, a hike in the Alps is the perfect adventure. When people think of
Switzerland, they think of Chocolate & Heidi. However, the picturesque landscape of the land makes the experience of visiting the area unforgettable. The country has 4 official languages so getting around may be hard, unless you know German. Keep in mind that there are plenty of inhabitants that do in fact speak English, seek them out!
