I've heard that some countries don't like to deal with foreign currency and will really give you a hard time if you try to pay for anything with a US dollar, or Euro. Egypt, in particular, comes to mind. I've even heard that they'll charge you a surcharge to bring it into the country. Did I understand that right? I would like to know for sure before I consider making a trip there.
