History

Celtic tribes settled on the island in 4th century BC. The English invaded in the 12th century and that was the beginning of the rebellion against the English repression. There was the 1916 Easter Monday rebellion and Ireland gained independence from UK in 1921.


Geography

The island, known as emerald isle, lies on the west of Great Britain, about the size of west Virginia.

Dublin is a charming and chic city that is in transition from a medieval capital to an exciting centre of commerce in Europe. The high-tech industrial boom has resulted in new high-rises, restaurants and hotels. But there is always pub or tavern around when you need a place to hold a mug of ale.
