I've heard that some countries don't like to deal with foreign currency and will really give you a hard time if you try to pay for anything with a US dollar, or Euro. Egypt, in particular, comes to mind. I've even heard that they'll charge you a surcharge to bring it into the country. Did I understand that right? I would like to know for sure before I consider making a trip there.

I dont think any country would mind foreign currency like US$ or Euro to come in their country esp. like Egypt. Imyself make it a point to get my dollars converted into the local currency whenever I land at the destination country through the authorised money exchangers. That really removes you from being overcharged as you are not dealing with dollars.
