In September I traveled from Portugal to Bulgaria. I arranged my flights as following:
Faro â Amsterdam on September 3, 2005 by TRANSAVIA
Amsterdam â Sofia on September 4, 2005 by MALEV
Sofia â Amsterdam on September 13, 2005 by MALEV
Amsterdam â Faro on September 13, 2005 by TRANSAVIA
I bought the return ticket Amsterdam â Sofia â Amsterdam in August 2005. I had to change the date of my traveling back from Bulgaria to Portugal. In the MALEV office in Sofia I paid Euro 50 to change the day of the flight Sofia â Amsterdam from September 13, 2005 to September 15, 2005. Online I paid Euro 100 to change my day of flight from Amsterdam to Faro.
On September 15, 2005, 4 a.m., on the checking desk at the Sofia Airport the MALEV agent told me that I can not use this ticket because I have not the right to travel with ticket bought in a foreign country, because I am a Bulgarian citizen and actually this is a âone wayâ ticket to the European Union.
This way I lost the ticket Sofia â Amsterdam, and the ticket Amsterdam â Faro as well. I paid for a service and I received only problems and humiliation.
I was explained that I donât meet the requirements for Bulgarian citizen travel in EU, but I insist that I did as I had the ticket Amsterdam â Faro already bought and consider this as an act of a breach of my customer rights. I prepaid a service that I didnât receive and nobody from the MALEV office in Sofia reimbursed me for this!
Anyway, nobody in Amsterdam told me that I canât use that ticket, I wasnât told this even when I was paying the date change tax in the MALEV office in Sofia.
According to this I want to ask you the following question:
Why I was sold by MALEV a ticket that I could not use?
BE CAREFUL WITH MALEV COMPANY
WOW!
I have heard of issues similar to this. Thanks for the heads up!
