This is the one which I use personaly and has been helping me out for quite sometime now. Here you can find hotels of all ranges and for all places in US.

Hostels are a good cheap way to go, sometimes you can find cheap last minute hotels, but I would not suggest waiting that long during a peak time (holiday, etc.)
