For me on a plane nothing beats a good pair of headphones, and music. With the amount of rooms in mp3 players nowadays I can easily just sit there and listen to music the whole time. Thuogh magazines (especially those product catalogues found on planes) and a book can speed up time really fast.

What do you do during those long flights or drives?
I've never seen an inflight movie, maybe thats because I've never gone further than Florida in a plane...

Write, play games and my iPod.... thank god for electronics.
What do you do during those long flights or drives?
I'm still scared of flying so I try to get some sleep and wake up at my destination.
But usually I get nightmares so when I wake up I do anything to keep my mind of flying: listen to music, eating, drinking, playing on my phone...
I'm a grown man living in an advanced civilization, but I can't believe how that huge piece of metal lifts off and flies.
Call me an idiot, but although I've studied some engineering and know about planes, I still can't believe how a sane person can fly regularily.
What do you do during those long flights or drives?
I've traveled all over the world while I was in the Air Force. And spent most of the time traveling in the worst aircraft ever designed to carry people C-130's.... They should have never allowed this aircraft to be certified to carry people.... They're loud, lose altitude all the time for no apparant reason. I wasn't ever a passenger on one, but a crew member. So I can just imagine how bad the ride was back there. Flying in those aircraft makes me love flying in the flying sardine cans of the commercial airliners.

Honestly, I drink. I'm Irish so booze is my tea.
Most international flights that I have been on give you free alcohol so with that being the case my flights are over in a flash.

Another thing that passes up the time relatively fast are logic problems. Or those variety puzzles you see at newstands that are only a dollar.

If your having fun, anything passes time, fun is the key to your beating boredom. I'd normall play the psp/gameboy or even listen to mp3s while I'm travelling.
What do you do during those long flights or drives?
On long trips i normally read books, listen to my MP3 player and play on my gameboy. I can never seem to sleep (even on 16Hr flights), so I generally get moody too
What do you do during those long flights or drives?
I live off my laptop. I play games, watch movies, listen to music, work, and read from it.
It's the ultimate travel companion for me on long flights.
What do you do during those long flights or drives?
On short flights, I have a record of sitting down, taking out a book, reading for 5 minutes or so and then falling asleep while we are still taxi-ing. I continue to sleep through take off and then wake up again as the plane levels off. I can't understand this but my best guess is that when tired enough I can sleep through the first burst of noise (from the take off), but then after 5 minutes sleep or so the drop off in noise when the plane levels wakes me.
I always feel stupid when I do this.

Imagine that I had to travel like 18 hours this summer to get to Greece and it was a car trip...with people I din't know...very interesting, didn't know how to speak , to whom and so on..there were people from 20 to 50 years old...and kids, too...no sleep, not anything..music and again music..I believe this always chills one  ...the road back, same people, already friends...playing cards, making fun..on a terrible weather..it was just great ..can't wait the next trip 8)
Things I always take with me
Things I always take with me in carry on, for any flights: headphones and music (avoid hearing rumbles of the turbulence), pictures of those I love, afew good books and a notebook (sometimes I get poem ideas on a plane and if I don't jot them down, I lose them). Also a good small blanket and pillow work wonders on the long flights!
I have never been out of the
I have never been out of the US, but any trip that requires more than 2 hours, I am asleep. I can manage to sleep just about anywhere, expect standing up. I cant wait until my first international trip, even if I end up sleeping most of the way there. For road trips though, I always end up staying awake.
What do you do during those long flights or drives?
Yes, that must be great. I sleep usually. For the first time, recently, I had a dream while sleeping on a plane. I was in this hotel, and they were clearing everything out, and there was a queen size bed, and I said to myself "I bet I could sell that for a lot on eBay"
