What do you do if you are charged for overweight luggage at the aiport? What would you do if you had the option of shifting some of the luggage from one bag into a cardboard box to avoid the fines of being charged? Would you travel with this flat box in your suitcase and then use it on return trips?

The only time I had to use a box with travel, is when I was actually moving from the east to west coast. I just threw a ton of clothing in a small apple box and used that instead of normal luggage. The airline (South West) had no issues with this, I had two normal bags checked, and I checked the two boxes I used. I try to pack light to avoid any case of having to discard something I may need on my trip. Trying to shift items from one to another, in the middle of a busy airport would be a pain I would not want to attempt. :)
Overweight Luggage
I always test my luggage before I leave when I'm going on holiday. I wouldn't want to throw things away or something. I could always miss a pair of towels though :(
