Travel Tips from a geek

I would never travel without my laptop, and a good wifi connection. :) I have been researching a ton of travel tips for geeks, and wanted to share afew things I have found.

Maps and Traffic Reports - a good source to know where you are going and how the traffic is going to be. The last thing you want is to go on vacation to get away from your own city life and then turn around and be stuck in traffic somewhere else!

Road Trip Specific Apps - will help to find near by gas stations (and their prices), local radio stations (I hate road trips when it takes a good ten minutes to find a 1/2 decent station).

Itinerary Planning and Organizational Apps - many applications to help setup your own trip, planned for you by you, how great is that to have constant updates on places you want to see?

You can check out more information for any of the above, by visiting the site I found! Good deals on many things to help make your planned trip less of a hassle. :)

I have never been out of the country yet, though doing many road trips with friends, we always ended up using mapquest or google maps - they seem to work out pretty good, but sometimes they are off their calculations by a couple of miles.

I have been using my N95 for more than 2 months now. And I have been using almost all its features. GPS, camera, notes and planner, music etc. I make it a point to download all the information of the place I am about to visit and then use that information extensivly on the trip. Also using it for emails and browsing.

I also have a blackberry, and it works well, I have never had any issues with it so far. What is the N95? Does it cost alot and is it only for something specific (like could I use it on the BB)?

I always travel with my laptop but rarely do I hook it up to an internet connection. I use it mostly for my journal and for offloading photos when my memory card gets full.

Maps are an interesting idea; it would reduce the bulk of things I had to travel with.
