New York In A Day

I have to go to New York for business for a very brief appointment early in the day. This will mean a six hour (each way) road trip, and I will be all done and free by 10am. So there is no way I want to waste that journey!

So, what would you recommend to get the most out of it-I want to see as much of NY as I can in one day?

I have done this!

I think I was about 17 or so, and it was a one day trip. We took a bus (lucky for you, already being in NY). We ended up going to see the Statue of Liberty. It was my first and only trip there. I was able to see the Twin Towers and if you have never seen this, the view is incredible! Depending on what part of town you will be in afew things I think you should check out would be: Central Park, Empire State Building, Ellis Island Museum (I had a chance to visit this during my day trip and it is amazing at the preserved history in this place, you can even look up for someone you may be related to!). Also, a nice relaxing cab ride in one of the classic yellow cabs would be fun, if you decide to stay overnight and enjoy the Big Apple's night life!! :)

Yes it is possible.

Yes I had gone through almost whole of New York in a day and i visited two muesums and many galleries and I enjoyed a lot that time and it would be better if you plan with your friends or colleagues as to boost each other and now there are many travel agencies which can even organize your tour if you want. I had my tour organised by my dad.

Thanks for the replies. The

Thanks for the replies. The date is fast approaching and there just seems so much to do-I am not sure that I would do anything justice really by passing through so quickly. I am trying to plan a route right now to take me through with as little wasted time as possible, but I would love to at least see Liberty from a distance, and maybe do Ellis Island too. Thanks for the help!

When will the trip be, and

When will the trip be, and how long will you be there for? Liberty and Ellis Island are good choices, but it truly depends on what interests you the most, and how much time you have to spare. :)

It's the 29th of this month, for a child support hearing. Should be all over by 10am, then we have the day to spend seeing the place, as much as we can anyway.

Thats only afew days away! I would try to stay as close to the courthouse area as possible. Easier to get around and you can see a ton of things in a short period of time (your going to the right state for it)! Good luck with the hearing, I know those are a pain. :)

Yes its possible.

Just visit few important places like galleries and museums and avoid places that are not so famous.
