New Orleans and the Gulf Coast

With the devastation caused by Katrina, and the clean up still under way, has anyone made plans to go to either New Orleans or the Gulf Coast for a vacation? Is your desire to go out of curiosity, or because you actually have a reason to go?

My aunt actually went to New

My aunt actually went to New Orleans to help fix houses and clean up for a month. I know a lot of people go there for the same reason, especially college students on spring break. Many students are opting to go help out instead of go to Cancun, etc.

As for the people going there for leisure, I think it's mainly out of curiousity now.

Its OK now.

Now everything there I heard has become normal and people have started living there normal life. I have seen it on a news channel.

I have yet to go there, but

I have yet to go there, but a friend has. He said that many places are still abit messed up and needed extra help to clear things still. There are still many spots that near help, but many more have been starting to go back to the original way they were, thought N.O. still needs help if anyone would like to try and do so, I found this this link (below). One day I want to go for my birthday (in Feb. I have to see Mardi Gras, even if its just once!).

In the biggest tourist areas

In the biggest tourist areas you can now go and spend a vacation like you previously would. But for residents of New Orleans, in certain areas, life is far from back to normal. Going out of curiosity is a horrible idea!
