Best Zoos or Wildlife parks in the world

I love going to zoos and other wildlife parks.

I have been to the Fresno, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Los Angeles zoos, as well as SeaWorld and MarineWorld.

I would say that the Los Angeles or San Diego zoos were the most impressive of the ones I've seen.

Does anybody else have an opinion?
What is your favorite zoo or wildlife park?

I would say that one is in

I would say that one is in San Diego, its a great zoo with tons of critters and also the zoo in San Fran. right on the beach its so amazing.. make sure that you have plenty of time to stay and enjoy the sights, most zoos are spread out.

I've never been to the San

I've never been to the San Francisco zoo, but it sounds incredible, especially if it's right on the beach. I'll have to check that one out sometime.

I haven't been to the ones

I haven't been to the ones you've mentioned, but if what you see on TV is any indication, I would agree they're pretty spectacular. The one zoo that I have been to that I really liked was Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, IL. It was pretty impressive, of course it's been a while since I've been there, but I understand it's still top-notch.

I'd really like to make it

I'd really like to make it to the San Diego Zoo, which has been mentioned here already, but it seems like it would be awesome. I would also like to go to Steve Irwin's Zoo in Australia. Would've liked to have made it when he was still alive, but didn't. Such a shame, his death.

I have only been to American

I have only been to American zoos, but I wonder how different they are from other zoos across the world. I wonder if they are similar in size and the way that the animals are treated and displayed.

I would have to say my home

I would have to say my home state zoo, The Maryland Zoo (in Baltimore MD). This is the first zoo I ever went to. :)

Some interesting information from their about us page:

The Baltimore Zoo was created by act of the Maryland state legislature on April 7, 1876. (Its name was changed to The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore in 2004.) It is the third oldest zoo in the country, behind Philadelphia (1873) and Cincinnati (1874). It actually had its beginnings as early as 1862, when the first of many citizens gave animals (the first being 4 swans) to Druid Hill Park for public display.

This zoo will always be 'The Baltimore Zoo' to me, even if they changed their name. I remember the first time the semi live Dinosaur Exhibits took place. They truly have some of the most fascinating exhibits around. I cant wait until my children are abit older, and I can take the road trip on North to show them the first zoo mommy went to.
