If you were on a tight budget and wanted to see a country for a fairly small amount of money, which country would be the most convenient?

Well, just for argument's sake, I'll say that I'm traveling with just one other person. I would like to stay at small but decent hotels, most likely.
Other than that, I'm not very picky. I just want to know where I should go!!
Eastern Europe are definetely among the cheapest places to stay. You can get a flight to Riga from as little as £80! Cheap thrills abound over there.
According to about.com, Portugal and Greece are the two cheapest countries in Western Europe. Both look beautiful too!

Cheapest countries are in Western Europe and they are Portugal and Greece, although the Euro and European monetary policies are tending toward equalizing the price differential in these poorer countries but still they are quite economical.

I've never been out of the United States, so I have no idea which country would be the cheapest to travel through. I would guess it depends on how you travel, and whether you travel with a group or not.
