Cathedrals and Churches

I have always been fascinated by cathedrals and churches. They often were started in one century and then finished in another. They're architecture is amazing, and mind-boggling. Of course, I would love to see the Sistine Chapel in person. I've seen so many photos of it, as well as tv documentaries and such, that I almost can see it with my eyes closed.

What are some of the other cathedrals and churches you'd like to see, and why?

I’ve also always liked

I’ve also always liked cathedrals and churches because they are not built just for convenience (like the most of buildings), but for something spiritual. My dream is to see the Cathedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulalia in Barcelona some day – just because I like it in the pictures. My favourite cathedral (from those I’ve already seen with my own eyes) is the Spas-na-Krovi Cathdral (it is also called the Saviour-on-the-Blood, or the Cathedral of the Resurrection): it is covered with much mosaics – actually pictures are laid out of mosaics, and it’s really amazing! I can’t believe human beings could have created such a marvel! There is some information about it here: http://www.hotels-of-saint-petersburg.com/petersburgs-cathedral-spas.html . And I’d really like to see some of ancient and not very famous European cathedrals (maybe somewhere in Scotland), even if they are almost dilapidated – I love everything ancient and having interesting history!

The cathedral in St.

The cathedral in St. Petersburg is amazing. I've never been out of the country, so a trip overseas would be a dream come true. I had never thought of going to Russia, but I'm sure there are many wonderful things to see there, as well.

I have visited many

I have visited many cathedrals in the UK, but nothing overseas. The British ones are beautiful and some have interesting architectural quirks such as double spiral stair cases, or the longest stair case in Europe (that was terrifying to climb).

I would like to see some foreign ones too, but wouldn't go out of my way to do it-I would buy a vacation for that reason alone.

Another place you may enjoy

Another place you may enjoy is St Mary's Church in Hitchen (Hertfordshire UK). The church is well lit at night and just speaks to you. I was there for a week, and somehow always drawn to this church, the work is amazing. I am was a little down because the week we were there, it was closed, I have to go back and see inside one day. :)

Here is a picture I ran across of it, enjoy!

Cathedrals are so beautiful,

Cathedrals are so beautiful, and I love taking pictures of them. I haven't seen many nice ones in the United States, and I think it's a shame that we don't see them here more often. Europe's cathedrals are gorgeous!
