The price of travel in and around the UK has risen rather a lot in recent years. Although traditionally the fastest way to travel used to be train, the price has got so high that I tend to avoid it.
Instead I find that bus travel is far more economical. And for the first time, certain air routes are now cheaper to take than their equivalent rail route! They take a fraction of the time.
So be sensible about your travel options and look at all choices, to save yourself some money.
I too find it odd that air
I too find it odd that air travel is so much cheaper now compared to the rails. My preference is for vacations on foot, and the places I go don't exactly have airports to take you there so it hasn't affected me yet, but I think that given how much faster and easier air travel is, if the choice came about, I wouldn't be roughing it on the rails.
