hey people. i'm Alex, live in UK and work as a businessman. i'm taking a break for a couple of months and considering traveling to Brazil, solo. i'm something of a hypochondriac :) but to a far lesser extent. but still, the fear is there and it's kind of hard to fight sometimes, that's why i'm taking all my precautions before traveling to Brazil, specially since i'll be all alone. so, i've been doing some research for good hotels, good tourist guides, and all the right facilities in a single neighborhood, hospitals or clinics, pharmacies and the works. however through my research i only came up with this list of pharmacies http://www.drugdelivery.ca/xx-BR-31-A-xx/Tocantins-Pharmacy.aspx in the region i'll be residing for that time period. but i'd love any more information on health care and such when living in Brazil.
thanks in advance for the responses guys.
cheers
Alex
medical care in Brazil
first of all, if you need any cosmetic surgery, Brazil is the place to get a facelift, eyelift, tummy tuck, etc......cheaply..LOL..anyway, be sure to check out coverage internationally for your UK national health plan. it might be a good idea to purchase a supplemental health insurance policy for international medical care; I understand that American Express has a good one. You definitely want access to the best health facilities in a foreign country such as Brazil. I believe Amex's policy also provides for the services of an interpretor. Unless you speak fluent Brazilian Portuguese (which is not the same as that spoken in Portugal), you don't want to end up sick and possibly in pain, with a language barrier.
