Climate

I am a Wiki junkie and was looking up some climate info for a friend that travels there for work about 3 times a year. This is what wiki tells me:

The climate of Africa ranges from tropical to subarctic on its highest peaks. Its northern half is primarily desert or arid, while its central and southern areas contain both savanna plains and very dense jungle (rainforest) regions. In between, there is a convergence where vegetation patterns such as sahel, and steppe dominate.

Africa boasts perhaps the world's largest combination of density and "range of freedom" of wild animal populations and diversity, with wild populations of large carnivores (such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs) and herbivores (such as buffalo, deer, elephants, camels, and giraffes) ranging freely on primarily open non-private plains. It is also home to a variety of jungle creatures (including snakes and primates) and aquatic life (including crocodiles and amphibians).

I would really love to see a ton of the wild life there, but Im not really sure I could handle the heat indexes. Has anyone been, is it as bad as I imagine?

Climate in Africa

Yes, you are right that the climate in north africa is quite hot and dry as the area is close to Mediterranean sea whereas the central and southern areas are a bit more hotter in summer (the temperature rises to mid 40 degrees in summer) as the area is close to Sahara Desert and also the humidity is very high in southern part of Africa. The nights are colder in winter because of the Sahara desert. I don't know much about central and southern area but in norther part of Africa the summers are also hot (can raise above 40 degrees in July and August, the summer season is usually from June to September) and the winters are mild and the (from October to December). As the rainfall is very less in Africa especially the southern part remains dry for years without any rain because of vast Sahara desert, the northern part being close to Mediterranean sea receives some rainfall in the months from December to February. So, the norther part of Africa is a great place to enjoy water sports activities with family and southern part is to enjoy Sahara desert activities and the vast dark jungles for a wildlife trip is perfect.
